IT IS BECAUSE YOU DID'NT ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT. WHILE I CREATED MY ACCOUNT, I GAVE AN EMAIL ID. AFTER FEW MINUTES I WENT TO MY EMAIL ID WEBPAGE. THERE WAS AN EMAIL SAYING VERIFY YOUR ACCOUNT. I CLICKED ON THE SITE AND I WAS ACTIVATED. DO THE SAME

I never had this problem before. I also have the impression my range of opponents have been severly limited. Most of them have no friends on their profile. And I can't comment on people profiles.
The message is:
"Your message was not sent because you have not yet verified your email address. Please check your email to verify your account so you can participate fully in Chess.com!"
