Me too, it says that the problem occurred and to contact the support.
Every time I try to get the free trial (VIP 1mth), I get 2 emails, one telling me that the automatic-billing is on, and the other one saying that chess.com stopped this operation and cancelled it. It's frustrating, I don't want to give my credit card info to the site but also want to have this membership!!!
any kind of success? I also trying to pay with Paypal and had the same thing as you all. my account works because I have other subscriptions on my Paypal account and they work with no problems, the only problem I have is with chess.com
Okay I might have found an issue, although I don't have the solution, more like a way-around. I paid with the option with bank account. It should've charged me money, but it didn't. I could start the free week though. After the week they canceled my VIP as I didn't pay - then, I was able to use the PayPal to directly pay for the 1MTH VIP.

I read in some older posts and someone said you can't use Paypal for a free week. when you say you use a bank account what do you mean? you used your visa card and then canceled? or did you use the sepa option ?

Sorry to respond that late, but I think You figured that out. Yeah I used SEPA, as I wasn't comfortable with sharing my credit card, but now when I think about it, it might've been ever more stupid, as I gave direct info to my bank acc, which I can't that easily close. Anyway to answer the other question. Yes, you CANT pay using Paypal for the trial apparently, a lot of people are having this problem, including me, the solution is just to use SEPA or credit card, but for the sake of using Paypal, I switched to it as soon as I could.

Thanks for the replay anyways. I figured it out as well and I used SEPA and now I'm using PayPal. I don't think it's a big deal because it's your account number. I share it with people all the time if we want to pay each other with a smartphone so don't worry if you didn't give any sensitive info like the card number then you are golden. Usually what I do is check with the visa site if I'm paying with an authorized payment method so you can use the credit card number if do not have a choice(just a tip you know).
Chess.com is a big site with a big reputation so don't think they will try to scam you.
I cant pay with paypal because i get an error everytime i try. I have sent and email but only recieved an auto response. Is it possible to pay manual? i want to upgrade from gold to platina, i have some credit left.
