Hi. I am new here. I can't play against the computer. When I click on "vs. computer". It will try to take me to another window to play, but, then I receive a message at the bottom saying, "a problem with this webpage has caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab". It then shows that it cannot send me back to chess.com and the window tab at the top says, "Website restore error". Can you help?

What version of Internet explorer and Windows are you using? Can you please go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html and let me know what version it says you have installed?

I am using chrome and cannot because of my security settings. I don't know how to change them.

Hi, I'm new here and I played one game against the computer, but now after several days of trying I can no longer play against the computer for some reason. I click on start and nothing happens.

It appears to be a problem of the security settings in the browser. To disable them go to the settings/options in the security tab of your selected browser. There you should see a tick box that says "Block dangerous content" or something similar, remove the tick and you are ready to play. Only remember to renable them when finished.

Something changed recently. I was playing against the computer every morning until being away for week or so. At first I thought it was Firefox, but Microsoft Edge in Windows Ten Pro does the same thing. It will not allow dismissal of the two boxes that pop up on screen. No amount of clicking anywhere seems to work. The menu allows every other feature of Chess.com to work except "Play Against The Computer" I sent a bug report a couple days ago and haven't heard back. Very frustrating! Maybe if everyone who can't use it reports it, we can get it fixed soon.

Nikos, that's a temporary fix that hopefully will not be needed long. I'll have to try it. What browser are you using?

Avatar of OksanaByool

Nikos, unchecking "Block dangerous content" does not work in the latest version of Firefox 48.02.

Internet Explorer 11.103 works without any settings changes. I unchecked install newer versions automatically on the "About" page until this gets figured out. Should not have to use an outdated browser.

Same thing with me, on IPad.   iPhone still works....

Yes it appears that the latest version of firefox isn't compatible for now. My Edge browser though works fine.

If you are on v2, the Java version of the Play vs Computer, it won't be updated. There may be a way to get it to work but the best bet is to switch to v3, assuming that isn't where you are having the problem. If the problem is on v3 you might try clearing your cache and try again.
