2 times today I haven't been able to promote a pawn, it lets me move to the final rank and the promotion pop up appears to select the piece you want to promote to but when you try and select the piece it doesn't go through no matter how many times you click it, and the piece you choose doesn't seem to matter, I have had to offer draws twice because of this today
Sounds like a bug. Use the bug report tool (in Help) to let the developers know.

Sounds like a bug.
If you have Safari, stop using it. Chrome will work, it does for me. Or download the app and you’ll have no problem promoting pawns.
Or maybe the pawn felt that it was not experienced enough to assume a position of greater strength and responsibility, so it refused to promote.

There's such thing as 'promotion' where a pawn can promote to a queen, rook, bishop or knight on the eight rank.
The problem happened to me on the lessons (only) and in multiple lesson challenges, you are asked to promote to a queen! Most of the times, the pawn promotes automatically to a BISHOP, and rarely can I open the promotion menu to promote the pawn.
