So is this a fix we can do, or is this something on chess.com's end?
I believe it's a web server side problem. does not affect the mobile versions because they save the pic in their app.
It appears to be an issue with the CDN the site uses and not the website itself, since most members are loading the site fine.
I was able to test with a couple of proxies in Canada and things started loading for me, so it's possible the problem is slowly resolving for those members (but I'm not certain).
None of the images for the pieces are showing up except for the real 3D ones in the settings, just shows that little page that there is supposed to be an image there. and if I don't select real 3D I can't see anything.

I can see they're using Cloudflare as CDN, maybe not chess.com's problem.

Yes, there have been at least a few hundred reports, not including forums.
I reported the bug to chess.com, I guess we need to wait
