I was offline due to playing chess otb this evening and when I got home I had no notification that I was low on time. 

I literally received the email and logged in immediately to find 1 minute remaining and I moved but the game timed out.

As you can see, I received the email with 4 minutes to go and that is not enough.

Normally I get that email when I've got like 3-4 hours not 4 minutes. 

This is wrong.

The site has been experiencing very high loads and I know some notifications have been lagging as a result.

Martin, I get that, but I would never have timed out that game had I had more time. I would like the game reinstating please cuz it's not my fault that your alerts are messed up.

You can ask support but since it's the Daily Championship I'm not sure they will do it.

That's exactly why I'm asking. It's not my fault that your notification came through till I had barely 3 minutes.
