Chess.com charged me $99 I DID NOT want to spend

In the "spirit" of the law, a free sample should be exactly that. A free sample, with no strings attached. It would be the onus of the customer to actively purchase a product.
There's a pretty clear distinction between a physical sample and a subscription service such as Chess.com, or a Time magazine subscription, or a wine or book club. They all use the same model where you sign up and if you don't like the subscription, you can cancel at any time, but otherwise your subscription will continue. Your free sample is the first one of those. It's pretty common and accepted practice, and well within the spirit of the law.

I think what happened is your free trial ran out and then it went to a paid trial lol.

I'd give them at least 10 days - it's the holiday period plus they've been super busy lately.

If you look at all the posts on the forums from people who forget to cancel their membership you will see that they all get resolved. just be patient, there is a backlog at the moment.

You have to click gift on the profile, then Give Gift on the dialog with all the payment information.
I have stopped using chess.com for almost 1 year. And I just saw $99 charge from chess.com on my checking account.
How can I cancel the recurring charge and get refund?
