Chess.com has suddenly become really laggy

It's only happened today and yesterday, Otherwise it's been great. But recently I've been getting a really low fps when playing chess. It isn't an internet issue, and it's likely not a hardware issue. Could someone send me a way to fix this or at least a reason for why this is happening?

Saying it isn't an internet issue, may not be accurate. Issues can occur between you and the site, but not impact your local connection or access to other sites hosted in different locations.

I have been having the same issue. My fan comes on as heat builds up and the moves are painfully slow.

This just became an issue in the last week or so. When I try to open chess.com, I have to wait 1-2 minutes before anything happens. Other websites like Google, eBay, or YouTube open right away, so it's not my computer or connection.

I am dealing with the same problem , especially when I play bullet sometimes the cpu cooked to 100% usage and moves become slow

Hi, same issue here, crazy thing is when i open chess.com, not only does it lag, but the rest of my PC get's jittery as well, when i restart it and use it without visiting chess.com, my PC works just fine for hours, soon as i come here, my PC ages 10 years immediately

my CPU is like overheating and the fans on my pc are making so much noise

Ok I just find out how to stop that bug, I changed the skins of my pieces and of the board and i removed the animations

I played a game and it wad to normal and after I put enverything as I use to have and my game was not lagging anymore.

My issues stopped once I started opening the program in Chrome. Everything works fine now. I tried again on Edge and had the same problems, so it's going to be Chess on Chrome from now on. I hope this helps!

The problem seems to be solved now tho.

Still a present problem. Performance can change from flawless to unplayable within a single game of bullet lol.

When I switched from Edge to Chrome the lag went away.

That's unusual since both are variations of open-source Chromium, which is why they look so much alike and extensions made for one will almost always work on the other.

Anyway, there is no such thing as lag-free internet. When your lag is interfering with your games, and/or you're experiencing disconnects, the problem is almost never on chess.com's end. When it is, it won't just be you having the problem. Servers couldn't play favorites even if they wanted to.
