i play chess.com on facebook and it seems that an opponent of mine is doing some serious afk and the time still shows only "a few minutes"

"a few minutes" = a few weeks? LOL

See if "Auto-Win on Time" is unchecked here  http://www.chess.com/home/echess_settings.html

i checked it now

now i have to wait and see

still,i never hit on a option like that(i mean,it's logical to win if the opponent's time is 0)
