deleting blog comments

When someone says something rediculous, mean, hateful, etc. as a comment on my blog, I can just delete the comment. But the post remains with [COMMENT DELETED] in place of the comment.

I understand the reasons for this in the forum. But I think on a blog, where there is an invested moderator, we should have the option of removing altogether this comment so that there is no ugly trace of it left.

I vaguely remember a similar issue being raised a long time ago, and if I am not mistaken Kohai removed the blog comment. I'd raise it directly with her.

I don't want to have to contact a staff member every time. It seems like a waste of staff time to be deleting blog comments for hundreds (thousands?) of users.

DELETE followed by BLOCK should help the particular errant poster get the message.

I don't understand why anyone should care.
