difference between rated and unrated games

Hello,

I'm pretty new to chess.com. I played chess in the past and picked it up just recently again.  I see that games have the label of "rated"  or unrated. But with both my rating changes after the game is over. So what is the difference. 

I supposed this would be on the FAQ, but could not find it,

Well what i do mostly now is when I want to start a new game, I check if there are any open challenges. Often they are not rated, but after the game my rating changes. Can I look back in the history if a game was rated or not? 

Same here, my rating changes after unrated games.

If you are on the iOS app, there has been a bug where all Daily matches were showing as unrated, even if they are rated. If you are on the iOS app, that is very likely your issue.
