Disable animations

How do I disable the new game animations?

Settings > Piece Animations

If you mean the pre and post game ones, I don't think you can.

Yes those new ones. I know how to adjust the piece animations.

I will close my account if they leave them that way.

There is a way! Go to All Settings -> Board and Pieces. There is a misplaced and unlabeled checkbox below the save button. This will disable the animations before the game and will reduce the animations after the game!

The animations (beginning and end of game) have just appeared on my computer. I find them really annoying and distracting and I think that I, too, will be terminating my account it they remain. I'm fearful of trying to get rid of them by pressing buttons that aren't clearly marked. I'll appreciate help from anyone who can resolve this.

The OP post was before the feature fully released and was removed. The option was added to disable before it was released again.

You can disable just toggle the setting.

For others who can't find it, I found it under https://www.chess.com/settings/themes 

It's the "Enable Special Themes" box.

I HATE the new animations. It's obnoxious.

For me, even with the pre/post game animations slider turned off it still does the new post game animation, which I find annoying and distracting. (Thankfully it stopped the pre-game animation, which I agree was so annoying I would have probably stopped using the site)

I'll also quit if I can't disable the annoying animations.

The setting listed above should work to disable both.

Why do i have to keep clicking the box to get rid of these animations seems random that i have to let the game abort just to go in and recheck this box again

Enabled Special Themes is disabled in the Themes section of the home page and the board options when looking at a game and still getting the stupid snowy/sparkles at the end of a game I have won.
Tried turning them on, refreshing and turning off again - still the same.
Why are we getting pointless, childish crap like this - its a chess site, not a gambling site?

Same here with the sparkles, how does Lichess compare is it more professional?

Confetti animation is a different setting called Win Celebration and can be found within Play using the Setting icon beside the board.
