Disconnecting, and reconnecting every ten seconds.

Virtually EVERY TIME I try to play live chess, it continuously disconnects, and reconnects literally every ten seconds, like a neon sign going on, and off, through the entire game. What could be the problem? I'm using IE 8.

I was reading where it might have something to do with the seek graph (try just using the seek list not the graph, if there's a setting to leave it that way, try that).

Something about I.E. 9 partial wanting to upgrade to full, I think (and being glitchy).

sftac (I've I.E. 8, no problems, but then, I'm on XP)

 I have XP too.

Doesn't seem to help.

Well, there's always Mozilla Firefox (can't hurt, might help).

When I installed it before, it slowed the computer WAY down.

If Firefox (& chrome etc.) 'slow' your PC down, that's extremely strange (imo).

Though, (especially if you're on dial-up), it might be really slow at first as I.E. would have accumulated a bunch of cached webpages and images that would take Firefox awhile to catch up on.

sftac

It's not dial up. I don't think that exists anymore.

I turned off the graph, and it still does it.

My connection is doing the same thing. Broadband with Cox Communications, and I do not have any connection problems with any other site.

Member of ICC for 5 years now and thinking of switching to Chess.com, but not if this problem can't be solved?

I thank everyone is advance for your assitance in this matter.

"..........and ought not keep alerting us about connection issues?"

You telling us not to alert "Help and Support" about a connection issue anymore?

Tell me this isn't the kind of customer service I can expect at Chess.com! If so, I will just stick with ICC until I find another site with helpful service!

TheGrobe

I think maybe you misunderstood -- he's saying that the application shouldn't be so intolerant of minor connection issues, or at a minimum should suppress the error messages until it's confirmed that the issue is more serious.

He also doesn't speak for staff (nor do I) and isn't representative of the level or quality of service you should expect here.

I notice a member of staff hasn't responded yet.

To:  TheGrobe and Woodshover,

Thanks for your reply. It is really a bother of course to cut out every 10 seconds or so. I will wait for a reply from the staff. If I can solve that issue I will join as a paying member of this site. I have not decided on what level, but I like what I see other than this issue!

Thanks again for your concern!  Harry
