Does chess change your username if you’re banned?

A friend of mine who had to leave chess had her account banned for absolutely no reason (hadn’t even been online for months) and her username was changed to x-1492853893, is that something chess does?

Hmm. Well your friend is mistaken. You didn't say if it was a fair play or an abuse closure but they had a reason. Your friend may not want to tell you but they had a reason.

Chess.com won't tell you why. There is no point in you asking. They only discuss account closures with the people directly involved.

And they don't let you keep the same name if you are banned but I've never heard that they make you take bizarre names.

My friend’s parents took chess away in march. She quite literally hasn’t touched chess in months, and she never broke TOS when she was on, so yeah, there was no reason. I wasn’t asking why they banned her, I already tried that and didn’t get answers, I just wondered if they change the username

That means the account was requested to be deleted. When that happens all identifiable information is removed from the account, including the username.

It's likely your friend's parents requested that.

Really?
I thought it was closed for abuse, can you get an account deleted even if it already has been closed for abuse?
