ERROR in The Membership Benefits List!

Well, you need to continue to ask.  That is a big thing - to offer a service you are paying for, and then not render it, is false advertising.

Shall I post a forum in the help and support forum first? If that doesn't work, I'll write another ticket.

I don't know the best fix here - if the staff cannot help, maybe you need to take the issue directly to Erik and let him know that the service does say "unlimited" and you are not getting what was advertised.  I can understand that in the past, they use to offer lifetime memberships for $500.  I was actually at one point considering doing that, but when I was ready to do it, they switched it to yearly.  I missed out.  That was my bad, I could not hold them accountable for a previous deal they weren't offering anymore.  However, if I paid $500 before, it would be totally unfair of them to then strip me of my lifetime membership and say, "Sorry, we changed the rules."

Oh yeah. I thought it was in the premium members forum. Never mind.

I don't know why they changed it because I have been on this site for only 6 or so months.

 How should I word it?

I think that "unlimited" means "enough for 99.99%" of the users. What if you decide to submit the whole MegaDatabase for analysis (a few million games)?

The same is true for space on e-mail accounts. It often says "unlimited" although servers have a finite capacity and you can't store 10^100 messages there.

Well, just be nice, but straightforward.  Tell them that you were offered a service that you did not receive.  On my screen, it also says "Unlimited".  100 is not unlimited.  They need to offer you unlimited, and then they need to change it to 100 (which is certainly more than enough for most people).  Personally, I don't use it at all - I don't like the analysis given, as I don't feel it contains a pulse, even though it would be stronger than me.  But if you like it, you are paying for it.

If you don't already have a decent chess playing program at home (like Fritz) maybe you should consider getting one. You can probably find a real cheap version of Fritz 10 or 11 at amazon or eBay and load it up with Houdini, Firebird and Stockfish and have your games analyzed at home. You should probably be doing this to make sure the PC analysis here is adequate for your needs.

You can also load the free chess engines I mentioned into a free chess program like Winboard, but I don't know if any free chess programs include analyze features and if so, if they have all the bells and whistles available in Fritz (depth of ply search, time spent on each move or game and other options)

I use free programs such as arena to analyse. It works very well

I agree with OP that unlimited is not 100. It could be 500.Nobody reaches the 500.

You can't submit games that you didn't play.

I have played 80 games a day before, so it could easily be possible to reach 500 games a week.

I agree

also another peice of contradictory advertizing.

PREMIUM: COMPUTER ANALYSIS

"Upgrade your account to Premium Member status to get MORE analyzed games per week and better analysis. Free Basic members get 1 game analyzed per week at an analysis strength of ~2000. Gold members get 2 games per week at a strength of ~2200. Platinum/Diamond members get 25 games per week at an analysis strength of ~2500."  I saw this on the page when I submitted my single weekly game to be analyzed...

EDIT- just found two archived membership pages:

The membership page as I remember it

Don't know how accurate that still is, but thanks for the link - I spent ages looking for the features of basic and had almost given up.

I want to pay for premium because I want to support the site and understanding the differences between basic and premium, not because of wanting to support the site and being confused about the differences. That just makes me feel like I do not know why I would upgrade. Until the features of basic vs premium are clearly posted I think I will hold off upgrading and just click a couple of ads every so often.

If the features of basic vs premium are anywhere on the site - someone please let me know where to find it, as I am really quite interested in knowing so I can consider whether to upgrade.

I must be blind - I can see the features of gold, platinum and diamond here, but for the life of me I cannot see the features of basic.

You just have to be on this site longer to know. It is the same as the archive website.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess I will find out.

It tells you some of the things you can do in the detailed discription, though. In order to view it, put your mouse on top of any benefit.

Aha! Mouseover text.

That has some info to help me decide why I might want to upgrade.

Just what I was looking for.

Thanks.
