females vs.. male ratings

I am wondering if I am correct in observing that there are more males on this site then females. Also it seems that the best chess players are males. I tend to relate this to the diverences between male and female brains. Have there been any studies on this subject.

Males are more prone to studying obscure, useless and yes, even absurd and bizarre things for hours on end in order to increase their bragging rights whilst showering with each other. Women on the other hand usually tend to use their "limited brain functions" on dubious pass time activities such as reading, socializing and all that 'practical' jazz. Simple.

Be nice! I was sticking up for the ladies.

More males play the game, so if for every small percentage of players, a few emerge to be "good," more males will occupy the higher echelons of chess rankings. I highly doubt there is an intrinsic advantage that favors male players. Perhaps a sociological one, but I doubt such a study would be worth the resources.

I'm not going to be a male chauvinist for once and point out the three Polgar sisters, who have all made marvelous achievements in chess.  And as far as the differences in male and female brain, there are none.
