Firefox 12.0 with no plugins. I don't play live chess so I don't know about lag there, but otherwise no problems with Firefox.

I use Chrome not Firefox but this may be of help to you:-

http://support.chess.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/121/0/what-is-lag-and-what-are-the-colored-lag-indicators-in-live-chess

Have you tried using Chrome ? - works really well on this site (the staff recommend it).  I'm not sure that the lag you are given has anything to do with your browser but I know some things don't work well in Firefox unless you've updated it to the very latest version.

If you're really stuck, try Help & Support - the button is at the bottom of every page.

Could you please go to an online game or something, click on analisys and tell me if you lag moving the pieces around?

No lag at all in online chess, pieces move fluidly. Have had no problem  with Firefox, analysis board has always worked fine.

I believe I should be a lil more specific. The problem I'm having has nothing to do with internet lag (I mean, the one you linked me about). I believe it's more of a "java lag". Whenever I try to move the pieces, they lag and they move so slowly.

Ahh.. now I understand. Have the same problem myself from time to time when everthing slows down - was trying to use game analyser last night & it practically stopped working. Only solution I've found to work is shutting down & re-starting (my PC), although closing then reopening your browser might help but then you don't want to lose your game I suppose ?
Have you tried any of that ?

But I've definitely seen something about Firefox in the H & S section, regarding viewing online or live games.
Found it - isn't exactly your problem but some of the tips might help:-

Either way, you can always use the 'contact support' button there to send them a report. They're pretty good at solving most problems.

Good luck     Smile

can you tell me your computer specs? also, what other programs are you running? can you show me a screen grab of your task manager to see how much resources firefox is using?

Ruffian, what? I'm not using chrome. As i said already, chrome works fine. Do me a favour and click on that link please. Does it work?

Works for me o/k staddum - at least I can see the webpage. What exactly does that site do ?

If Chrome works fine for you, wouldn't you be saving a lot of grief by using it instead?  The staff here make no secret of the fact that this site is best used via Chrome.

staddum did you try uninstall Firefox, and reinstall the latest relese again, uninstall all addons too,

Youd be surprised how something so simple may work :)

I have Firefox 12 and no lag problem. However, I have seen the lag happen under two conditions: (1) My Macafee antivirus kicks in, then everything slows down and I get horrible response from the java app in the browser, and (2) I've been running firefox for days and days and the virtual mem (using Windows Task Manager; probably check in Linux using "top") is increasing greatly (probably some mem leak or sloppy garbage collection). Problem 2 is solved by restarting the browser. Problem 1 would be solved by kicking Macafee in the nether region.

Based on these observations, I'd check to see if anything is hogging your CPU or memory.

Yeah I never have problems with firefox (at least not with chess games), even with a few big add-ons.
