first move

I have set up a board to play a friend and there is no obvious instruction as to how to make the first move. I have farted around for 15 mins and cursed the designer. so before i try some other hobby, can someone tell this idiot how to move the first pawn. Clicking on it does not work. Right click don't give good options

click, hold, drag (to desired square), release.

If that does not work, I know the frustration. At first I couldn't move my pieces, but after fiddling around with my computer, I was able to make moves. Don't ask me how I did this.

Or click on the piece once, click the desired square you wish to move to, then click submit move.
