Is the French better than the Caro-kann?

I think french is a little easier and works more in games for me.

I view them as cousins. Or maybe siblings.

They both lash out at White's e4 pawn with the d5 pawn. They just use a different supporting pawn to do so (e6 or c6).

Objectively, I'm pretty sure they're unbeatable with best play - so there's no right or wrong answer. Just play the one that leads to the type of middlegames that you enjoy the most.

Both are very solid openings i have to say, if you want the more aggresive one id say caro kann and for the more solid one the french

They are siblings, both fight for center with a support pawn, sicilian and french are also very similar

For beginners French is better but for me Caro is easier to beat

French. I’ve memorized too much lines of theory in it to even count, and barely knew that the Caro-Kann existed
