FROM SUPPORT: Can't Log In to the Android App? Read This...!

Dear Android-using chess fans--

Hello! Amanda from Support here!

If you've been having trouble logging on to the app using your Android device...read this!

...So, it looks like a recent change to the Android software has interfered with the normal log-in process, resulting in a number of our users being locked out of the app. We are so sorry about this frustration and inconvenience!

The good news is that there's no problem with your account if you've been locked out due to this incompatibility, and we hope to have the log-in functioning as expected early in the upcoming week!

But, in the meantime, here are a couple of solutions so you can play while our developers work on a fix.

OPTION A. The best option is to join Chess.com Beta for now, and then download the latest version of the Android app. (You can quit out of the Beta version at any time, but this will allow you to access the app just as you normally would for now…! )

To do this…

1. Navigate to the "GOOGLE PLAY STORE".
2. Locate and click on the button that says "Become a beta tester" (below the developer contact info).
3. Log in to your app using your username and password (NOT Facebook or a third-party log in--if you need help setting up a regular log-in, please write in to us at support@chess.com and we'll be happy to help you out…! )
4. Enjoy the app!

OPTION B. Alternatively, if you don't want to join Beta, you can use a mobile browser like Chrome or Firefox on your phone to access Chess.com (although the mobile browser is a little less optimal for phone usage).

That's a relief! Thanks. I cannot log in on my Android phone but I am now logged in on my Android tablet. I discarded my old desktop computer because it has no sound/audio. Thanks again!

I downloaded the Beta version on my phone, it is now logged in. Although I am using my tablet computer now. Thanx again.

just rebooted , unistalled , reinstalled  then read this ... is there an updated eta for the fix ?

I am now using my phone with the beta version of the app. Obviously, it works fine. Seems like the old times, eh?

GREAT NEWS, Android v4.4 users: This problem has been fixed!

Our Tech Team has been working hard to resolve this. You should be able to log in now if you update your app...!

Facebook, however, is no longer supported as a log-in type. This is due to Facebook's log-in flow--outside of the boundaries of our app . If you were logging in using Facebook in the past, please reach out to us at Support@Chess.com and we'll help get you set up with a password  so you can log in!

Hi @smithclarkson! This was actually an old thread from a past issue we were having. If you're still having trouble with your app even after a clean install, please do write in to Support@Chess.com so we can work with you to figure out what's going on and get it fixed.

In chess.com I can'tell log in but I only can play from Google please help what should I do
