Your local internet connection may be fine, but discounts can be caused by other processes on the client, other traffic on your internal network, problems at or between you and your ISP, to any of the pieces of equipment between your ISP and the site. The site only controls the client code, their own datacenter equipment and connection, and how they handle the lag. There is a lot out of the site's control.

Sounds like a bunch of bs to justify cheating me and the fact that chess.com is such a garbage site that it can’t even handle a simple 2d game
