Game Adjudication

But it has nothing to do with your situation. Adjudication can be used when, for whatever reason, a game cannot be completed. This can happen, for example, at an OTB tournament where there is not time to complete a game. But your games are running perfectly normally and there is no reason why they should not be completed.

How about this part:

Some correspondence games have a time limit for the event.  Each player may submit the game for adjudication when that time limit is up.

Maybe correspondence chess can have time limits. Like its 3-day per move for a maximum of one month for the whole game.

But you could have at least replace their names and ratings by XXXX-s or such.
Common courtesy, I'd say.
The site allows it for this specific reason.
There are threads that are shut down because of this.
I'd go as far as to say you basically humiliated them publicly.

Oh, I did not know that names can be changed. I'll take a look.

If I really think I have I no hope in a game I resign. However, there are lots of examples where my opponent resigns and I think ... what!! They can still win this. Take thexample below. My opponent is about to get another queen. I cannot stop it. Chances for repetitive check seem poor. But I will not give up. I will make my opponent fight for the win.

@corum

Your game example cannot be adjudicated. White can really have perpetual check or chance of counter attacks.

But I got you point, never resign when there's a chance to win or draw.

That's right. Really in the above situation the best I should have got is a draw. If my opponent had offered a draw almost at any point I would have snatched his hand off. To win, I needed him to blunder. But that is what happened and it can even happen when it is mate in five. I think GMs have been known to miss mate in one so if that can happen anything can happen.

I do resign. But I am not sure I resign out of respect to my opponent. I resign when I am fed up with the game, when I feel a bit depressed and cannot realistically see any way to avoid defeat. But otherwise I fight on.

I agree that there could be some merit in a turn-based game having a time limit, as you suggest, after which adjudication could come into play. But that is not the situation as we stand.

As expected, Mr 1495 moved his king within the last 4 hours. I expect another 3 days.

chess_anonymous

Well, it has been 11 days since I started this post. And the game is still going against Mr 1495. Although his rating fell by 31 points by now. A few more moves before checkmate. It might take one more week.

Better bewary not to click the Resign link.

So guys, be the judge now. Its been 18 hours since move 43 was activated. In one of my own game, if there's a conditional move you dont go to the next current game you have, please verify if this is true always as it only happened to me once.

The highest currrent game I had so far is fifteen (18) when the  33rd Chess.com Tournament (<1000) started and I have some challenges. I do not complain with other who take their time for their move. But this game is already won. I salute players who dont resign yes, but I do believe and conclude that this player is just prolonging the inevitable. There's still round 2 to make it even.

It's annoying to me when a player moves three four times a day while his chances are good, but when the player sees there is no hope of winning drags the game out for ten more days , but if he plays at least one move a day it's within the rules and I'll live with it..
but how can you get away with pausing a game? For days and days? The time control is one day .. not one day and lengthy multiple day pause.. in cases like the one I'm in now the player just paused with 77 minutes left .. he has no chance of winning ..pausing should have to be agreed upon by both players.. or not allowed at all

My advise: either stop crying rivers or stop playing the time format. The choice is yours.
