Game lost by Abandonment

I was playing a game as white, and it was my opponent's turn, and after his clock ran a couple of minutes, the game was over saying black won by abandomment, which is very strange as it was his turn to play not mine.

Getting disconnected can cause a loss by abandonment, regardless of who is on the move. I'm not exactly sure why that it works that way, just that it currently does.
