game update failed

I’m trying to play a move, but Game Update Failed keeps coming up 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️, I’ve not updated the game and only downloaded it yesterday

 

Staff Update: This issue only affects iOS app; if you use your devices browser or Android device, you should be able to make your moves.

Let’s hope it’s fixed soon. I usually find the app very stable. 👍🙂

Agreed! My app on the iPhone won't allow me to make any moves - works on my computer, though.

Agreed! I have never had a problem with the app - I uninstalled it and reinstalled it on my iPhone but with the same result of "Game update failed". Luckily I have a computer - not as practical.

That’s happening to me and I need to make some moves in the tournament games I’m in my next move has to be done within 2hrs hope this is fixed by then I will lose about 7 games all have less then 6hrs if this is not fixed today

Can you get to a PC or other type of device?

My game updates are also failing.  I noticed there was an app update yesterday.  Could this be the problem?

It works OK when I login to chess.com

I didn't notice an update. Though if there was one, you're spot on. Definitely some sort of bug impacting things.

Having same problems- deleted and updated app to no avail. Ugh.

It’s not the app update that is causing the inability to make a move. I hadn’t updated my app for two months. Just tried the app update this morning hoping to remedy the problem - to no avail.

This clearly is something on the server side and not on the app relating to commands to refresh and update a game's moves in the app. I see lots of threads on this problem today. I hope someone has contacted  membersupport@chess.com and explained the issue in an  email? 

In the interim just access chess.com using a mobile web browser -Safari or Chrome

This should only be impacting iOS. Developers are being engaged.

 

As mentioned by @flashlight002, a mobile browser is a workaround until fixed, if you are low on time on any games.

It’s working on my Samsung tablet thank God I was able to make my moves lol

Doesn’t help to update or reinstall the app on IPhone, nor to update the the phone whit latest version of iOS. Also restarted my phone ! 54 moves are waiting for me.....
