Glitch ruining my games

Most folks learn chess from their friends and never get taught it because their friends don't know the rule either....

You are wrong. It is is a proper rule.
Just because you fail to understand it does not render it stupid.
Most chess players over the last 600 years have understood the rule. Perhaps you can explain what makes you so special it should not apply to you ?

Okay maybe it is. Thats a stupid rule. But thank you
"stupid rule"
I guess if you accidentaly blunder your queen you'll call capturing a "stupid rule"

"I guess if you accidentaly blunder your queen you'll call capturing a "stupid rule"
It is what folk are like today. Cannot be bothered to learn rules or play a game properly and if they lose....it is always someone else's fault.

Don’t need to make it an insult on my character. I had no idea that was even a thing and I called it stupid because it doesn’t seem to make sense why there is a one time special move and what its purpose is.

As far as I was concerned it looked like a glitch in the game. My piece was there defending and then it disappeared with no piece able to take it as far as I knew. Again not sure why it is becoming a personal attack because I didn’t know that pawns can take when beside a piece. It is not intuitive and no one taught me how to play. Thanks for the help..

It is a personal attack because you called a rule stupid. You have been on this site for less than six months. Perhaps when you have played for a few years people might start to value your opinions.

That makes no sense. I asked a question about the game. So you have to denigrate me for not knowing the rules as well as you and then when it doesnt make sense to me I called it stupid and you get butthurt about it. Did you make the rules? Why do you get triggered for calling something that makes no sense stupid? I don’t need or want anyone to value my opinion. I was trying to understand what was happening because I had no idea. I was told to ask my questions here because the community was friendly. I guess forums here are the same cesspool as the rest of the internet. Full of self righteous A holes who get pride out of lording their “skill” over others.

So what are you going to do when you meet 3-fold repetition or stalemate, or insufficient material rules ? Call them stupid too ?
You are not being criticized for not knowing the rules, but for calling them stupid when they are pointed out to you.
If you fail to see the difference then perhaps chess is not for you.

No idea what any of those things are. Its a bloody game buddy. Not for me? Like this is only for the elite or something? Stop using your petty slippery slope fallacies at me. I can call anything stupid that I want because I am stupid so I’m allowed. Get off your high horse and get a life if chess is that important to you. Probably won some championship in elementary school and still living vicariously through those memories.

Geez. Can you guys wrap up that discussion so this forum can teach people about en passant?
Basically, en passant is to make a pawn have the opportunity to be captured by another pawn on the adjacents columns. In a pawn endgame, you want to make sure that each pawn won't just be able to avoid capture by moving two squares ahead and not having the chance of being captured, so the en passant rule allows the capture of the pawn like this:
The opponent (black) will have the opportunity to capture the pawn anyway like so. However, this capture can only be conducted directly after the opportunity arises.

You're arguing with a 1400?
pay some respect
pay respect

- No one deserves respect automatically for being good at a board game if they can’t be a good person too.

They were trying to help... "just a board game" is a understatement.
There is a problem with pawns first moves...I push them 2 boxes forward but in the game it's like i moved only 1 box forward... In many endgames I find myself losing because of this glitch🤔🤔

wdym they were trying to help... they did literally nothing except bash lloigoroth lmao, you were the one who helped
just because they have a higher rank doesnt make them a king that is automatically superior in every way to whoever theyre arguing with.
lloigoroth is a 800 arguing with a 1400.
I'm just saying 1400's know their chess.
