Yes, you can toggle it on and off at any time.

Hey kco i had the same question and posted a comment of, the answer was/is that it is no problem at all being member in the one group and joinin in other groups. they tell me that most members are joining several groups, cause most groups have their own thematical basement.( i do have 4 invite's on )
There is a button in the Administration Tools where you can toggle it on and off.
