Group newsletter

Hello all. I am hoping to find some inspiration here.

I belong to a number of chess.com groups but one in particular (Dan Heisman Learning Centre) is very active and we have started producing a monthly group newsletter for our members.

We do this by creating a forum post and include news, links to various group activities and internal tournaments, puzzles, we are starting to include annotated games and want to include more features into the future.

I am looking for advice and guidance from any other groups who may have successfully done this for their own groups.

How did you do it? Via the forums as we are doing or some other method? What is your process and do you mind sharing with a new newsletter team eager to learn and to give our growing, vibrant group extra value from their chess. com and DHLC group memebrship?

A couple of problems we have encountered include:

(a) links in the external documents we use to compile the newsletter don't get pasted into the forum post when we copy/paste it into chess.com. Anyone else found this and how did you overcome it? We have to go back into the forum post and manually add them back in, time consuming and inefficient.

(b) Only the original poster of a forum post can edit it. That is real pain because there a few of us who produce content but it all has to be entered/edited by one person; nobody else can assist. No real problems with text content, that is done in our external document. However when it comes to puzzles and/or annotated games, that is a nuisance. Any suggestions on that score?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

And while I am here, if anyone is looking to joing a growing, friendly, active chess.com group, why not try the Dan Heisman Learning Centre? Tell them that Farnel sent you :-)

Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestions, tips, links to other group newsletter we can look at - anything at all.

Thank you for posting this Farnel. I am very interested in what you find out...

I am also corresponding with someone from the chess.com support team on the subject. With a little luck, we will get some useful input and can make the newsletter production process work better.

An answer would be nice.   I, too, will anxiously await.  Thanks so much for posting something.
