Doesn't look like it to me!
hey, do moderators answer our questions here?

It isn't confusing at all.
It indicates that chess.com intends to email us about "Heroes", whether we want such emails or not.
A "Hero" can be a person, a product, or both.
Don't be so conspiratorial. From https://www.chess.com/blog/News/9-7-18-dev-update:
"Currently only available for iOS users, but we now have a Hero feature which allows you get updated when your hero starts playing in live chess so you can watch!
"To enable, visit https://www.chess.com/settings/notifications and make sure "A Hero starts playing" is enabled.
"Then just follow the hero of your choice to get notified when they start playing. You can also add those you wish to follow here: https://www.chess.com/settings/following
"Current list of heroes include:
"@Hikaru, @erichansen, @DanielRensch, @gmjlh, @MagnusCarlsen, @KNVB, @RLH2, @JohnUrschel,
@LyonBeast, @AlexandraBotez, @Anna_Rudolf, @GMWSO, @FabianoCaruana"
It specifically says "currently only available for iOS users". The feature doesn't exist yet for other platforms. When it's added, you will be able to change the setting. Additionally, you will have to explicitly follow a "hero" to be notified.

I've got a case for Mr Gleason. The SITE has blocking......but Admins in OD are asking you to UN-block. Does Federal law supercede State statutes......or does State law Trump Federal.....????? Why don't you send that one to your arbitration committee. Blah blah blah.....I know.....your gonna tell me.....we let groups moderate themselves. But THAT'S the problem Can a group overide the T.O.S..? When Erik left....he should have said...."this is the way I want it run". PERIOD! Jacklyn bailed and the last thing I heard her say was......"your not leaving me in there alone with those morons". Then Riker left.....and he said...."oh no you don't....your not leaving ME in there alone with those idiots".
Clubs can set their own rules, and can permit things that wouldn't be permitted in the main forums. That's not a complete "anything goes", but staff will only interfere in extreme cases.
If you block someone on the site, they will not be unblocked in OD or any other club. Blocking is site-wide, and that's intentional.

I don't tend to pay attention to the big public vote chess games since they tend to be disorganised chaos (well-run clubs do much better), but I trimmed some of the spam from public chat.

With over 20 million members here,...NOBODY knows more about licking each other than Postafi.
my thoughts after checking his profile

My "moderation work" - I'm an unpaid volunteer, and my main focus is on the Cheating Forum. I'm not personally responsible for the entire site. I don't actually get into the main forums much. Some of the other mods are more active in the main forums. Others are more active in ChessTV chat.
You're right that some teams are pretty dictatorial in how they run things. Others are completely disorganised with people voting for the first move they see, with or without reading the comments. Others are somewhere in between, encouraging discussion before voting but not quite so regimented. Every club has its own style.

In terms of people trying to influence elections, chess.com simply isn't big enough to be a target, and the restriction on political discussion in the main forums is sufficient. If some troll wants to stir up a hornets nest in OD, that's for OD admins to deal with if they consider it out of line. But a Russian troll in OD would probably wouldn't be the craziest guy in there.
In terms of people selling things, if it's chess-related, not off-topic, not a competitor, and not excessively spammed, a little bit of advertising is permitted. We also don't ban bad advice.
Free speech applies to kooks and wackos too. We've had multiple people make ridiculous over-the-top claims over the years. If someone wants to make themselves look silly, let them.

Does anyone really believe anyone who claims to be the strongest player on the planet or that he can beat engines - and that he doesn't even have a title?

Ok. This thread has become something. And I just wanted to ask a simple, (kind of cheeky) question. Oh yay. By the way, thanks MGleason for taking the time to talk to some of the people here!

Staff is under no obligation to explain why a thread was locked or deleted. You've been here long enough to understand the T.O.S. Maybe you need to READ it a few more times. When they do chime in to explain an administrative action.....its a courtesy.
When i was an unfit moderator it was during a time in my life where i was just angry, bitter, and unhappy. Which is where Postafi is now. This is why i cut him some slack, as i can relate to where he is at. NO ONE wants to be around people that are constantly complaining, whining, and being depressing. But i also think its important to try and be understanding of ones situation. While i don't know Postafi, or his circumstances, i can certainly relate to why he acts the way he does, So...I leave him alone. Like all things, he will run his course, and hopefully get better.

Hello!! I'm alive...
I think someone's spirit box must have helped.....
Now, if any of you need IMMEDIATE attention, please don't hesitate to send us a direct ticket to support https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new this is truly the fastest way to get a reply. There's going to be situations as such where I can't go through 30 different comments, jokes, and memes and pick who's really having issues.
sinyal di hp saya H+, kenapa main catur bisa putus sinyal ? ini sangat aneh, karena game ini hanya permainan papan.. harusnya lancar tanpa putus sinyal dimainkan memakai sinyal H+..
