what theme does gm hikaru use? and if its custom could anyone please tell me what his settings are? here is how it looks like

 

and also his site background and other settings that change how the board looks

That looks like the Glass piece set and maybe Icy Sea board.

does anyone know why he uses this? like why not just use the default?

Personal preference. I don't use the defaults.

I like the Wood pieces and the Green board. (really late reply since I don't follow topics)
