Member Points are an index of your participation in the more social or community-oriented aspects of Chess.com.
You get a point every time you...
- comment on something
- create a forum post
- post a blog
- publish an article
They simply show how active you are in these areas. You can't buy anything with them! :)

Take this with a pinch of salt, Kohai simply doesn't know about the rampant blackmarket in member points (bless her lil' cotton mouse-mat).

Points are fun to collect, though
However, don't they sort of disappear if you haven't posted for a while? I haven't been on in a few months but I used to have 350 or so points. This was posted when I had 303.
