How to disable the click to move function?

One, the suggestion has been made for years and apparently the site has decided not to make a change in the implementation.

On the other point, the site doesn't have to allow references to competitors

And it's just silly, don't you think so? I mean, is here anybody who doesn't know what that other site is? It's just the mentality of USSR censors. 

No business has to host any content they don't want to.  It's easy enough to make mention of other site features without constantly naming those sites.

I agree, you have a right to do so, I'm just saying it's a bit silly. It's just a waste of time

To install it you need some sort of browser extension that allows you to add custom javascript to websites (I use Custom JavaScript for Websites 2 for Chrome)

I can't guarantee that it will continue working as the website evolves, but it annoys me a lot so if I'm still here, I'll update it

In fact, I could make it a chrome extension, but we'd need to ask chess.com if we can use it legally, not getting banned

That would be so nice, I'm sure we can expect an answer from them around 2038 or 2039 

After all these complaints over the years, I find it very discouraging that Eric or someone at chess.com cannot respond.  Why is that?  Lousy customer service.  Oh well.

So, I've made a Google Chrome extension. It's already sent to Google Web Store (awaits for approval, I will share the link when it's ready). I've also sent an email to support@chess.com asking about permission to use.

Let's wait for their response. I'll give you the updates.

Also big thanks to ivangaliatin! I wouldn't even think about the chrome extension. It's based on his code with some small tweaks (I've added support also in analyze board and you need to have enabled either highlighting squares or move hints).

Little update - I need to work on it a bit more. It seems like board on live chess behaves different way than one for bots / analysis (probably some anti-cheat things). I was testing it before only there. But it's doable

Hopefully, they realize how annoying it is so that people start to create hacky browser extensions and fix it themselves)

Well, I bet they have some reason, like for example some problems with touch devices. But anyway, it takes definitely too long.

Please allow us to switch methods of moving pieces, it's annoying to lose games on misclicks.

I just made a massive blunder due to this.  I would love to see click to move be disablable
