I believe you may do that yourself if you wish, and at any time.

But, if you return and create a second / replacement account, that will not remove the penalty the site imposes on you for your behaviour.

So I suggest you work at reversing the penalty (the site probably provided a suggestion for that, else you could visit the 'fair play' link posted earlier here -- eg. play often enough with 'friends', to demonstrate that your behaviour has improved).

Very likely just a bad internet connection. Chess.com proggers haven't got all marbles together. See the other threads. Stallers should receive penalties, disconnercters should not. Many ppl unknowngly close the browser thinking it's like an auto-resignation.

They don't seem to love chess, and they can't programm. Sry.

All of which may be correct, but, it's not up to the site to adapt to the few members who run afoul of such issues.

It would be helpful to receive a warning message prior to penalties being imposed (but I think this happens -- doesn't it?).

Those few members with such issues, have an opportunity to reverse their penalty through playing with 'friends' and should also learn from their mistakes.

yeah, but warning players each time they do something wrong or that debits their 'fair play' record would take some of the mystique out of this site.
