I want to get membership but don't know which one to choose. It is confusing?

Hey guys,

Ok I want a membership where I can do at least "5 lesson per day". What I'm looking at is the "old lessons" section. It has openings, endgames, strategy, tactics, endgames. I'm not interested in the new lessons yet. My problem is gold membership says 25 puzzles per day and no mention about how many lessons per day. It just says interactive lessons, beginner. Does that mean if I choose gold membership I can only do beginner lessons. I'm confused? I want to do "old lessons" section openings, endgames, tactics, endgames all levels. Thanks

It is confusing.

The old membership benefits gave 3 of the old lessons per day to gold, 5 to platinum and unlimited to diamond.  I would guess that still applies to the older Chess Mentor portion of the lessons.

If your only reason is the old lessons, you should contact support. It is possible those will be removed at some point.

Really? That would be a shame. They are well written lessons. They don't take up a lot of space.

Hey thanks for the replies. I find the "old lessons" better structured. It gets to the point quickly, new lessons take too much time to get to the point. I don't know why the staff has decided to remove them. Ok I will contact support, but I posted here because I thought the admins of this forum will know the answer.

It is possible a staff member with direct knowledge will see this, but it is more likely to be seen with a ticket. I know I've seen at least one post where a staff member mentioned they were going away, though those plans may have changed.

I know they stopped lesson ratings but I thought they would keep the old lessons available.

I sent in a contact form and hopefully will hear back.

Go Diamond. No limits on anything. I have a Diamond subscription and it is GREAT. ONLY way to go. And the simplest to understand....no restrictions on ANYTHING now or in the future!!

@sam16231 chess.com site developers have removed the link to the "old" lessons. I am hopping mad that this has been done. Now I have NO WAY to get to the "study plan" section which was part of the old "mentor" program. There are hundreds of amazing lessons in the old section. This is where I started when I started learning...and there were no "new" lessons yet. I have reached "master" level and I want to finish my study course. I have invested 100s of exercises and hours into this!!!!! NOW without the link it is ALL GONE AND I CANNOT GAIN ACCESS TO THE OLD LESSONS AND SPECIFICALLY THE "STUDY PLAN". I cannot cannot understand why the link to the old lessons has been taken away. It had no affect on the running of the site or functionality or anything!!! If anything it supplied a SERVICE to those members still busy with the old lessons.

Removing that link is the equivalent of the real world example of tossing hundreds of books on a nice big bonfire.....AND I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY?!?!?! PARTICULARLY when there are probably THOUSANDS of users still interested and using the old lessons like me! I do hope that chess.com staff will see what I have written and do something positive about this situation.  @Martin_Stahl as moderator maybe you can discuss this with the powers that be? There is NO WAY to now access the "study section".

Make no mistake I also like the video lessons and have done hundreds of those too (now at advanced level)....and I do enjoy them....but I still see a place for the old lessons too. They are a WEALTH OF AMAZING INFORMATION. NOW JUST GONE!!!!!!

While I have access to some staff, I don't hold any sway in their decisions. Your post in the beta forum is more likely to get some additional input.

@martin_stahl thanks for replying so speedily to me. Much appreciated. If you can just talk to who you do know at chess.com and ask them to get @erik to check out my posts on this subject. I see he has been active on this subject. I don't believe I am being unreasonable or illogical in anything I have said or motivated. All I need is to get the ear of a decision maker around this subject...so we can get some decisions relating to it. From the number of independent forum posts it is clear this decision by chess.com management and website dev staff to remove the link to old lessons has met with LOTS of resistance and unhappiness...and for valid reasons too. In my case I can't finish my "study plan" course now. A course where I have already invested much time completing 250 lessons and 23 courses related to the "study plan". Now...now I can't even finish the course because I can't get to the old lessons section. I do believe whoever gave the instruction to remove the link NEVER thought about my scenario!!!!
