I wish my flag was where I'm from instead of where I happen to be right now

Go to your profile, change your country. You can set it to whatever you like - India, United States, Kyrgyzstan. Your flag is based on your country setting. If you choose Tuvalu the flag will be wrong, but that probably doesn't matter to you. You can still write a location which will be displayed in your profile, though it will show rather oddly as Chennai, United States.

Just put "Chennai, USA", anyone with any sense will deduce that you are an American abroad (your fair complexion is a mighty big clue). This should give you the flag that you desire.

Sorry, reading your post again you probably knew that. I'd just leave your country set to United States to show your nationality and set your location to Chennai, India or Tokyo, Japan or Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan or wherever you happen to be at the moment, so people can see your location.

True Doggy, but one knows instinctively when one is at it... Maybe you should expand your borders in life sciences... Just saying.
I'm not sure what you are saying as I can't make head nor tail of it.
May I suggest that you leave the cutting and sniping remarks for topics other than "Help & Support"? I'm all for a bit of keyboard swashbuckling, but perhaps this isn't the right place, eh?
Help topics are for more experienced members to help members with problems, not to cut them to pieces for no apparently good reason. Seriously fella, turn it in, you're starting to sound like a broken record. The constant twisted bitterness is very wearing for many of us.

You can say the short version: he is just pathetic. Signs of unhealthy life all over the place. Sorry for the OT, Angie.

Do you represent some league of gentlemen on chess.com?

To the OP; I think you can choose any flag you want but,..... I'm finding it a little hard to understand how this would help Military people. That would be a security issue, IMO. In the few months that you've been here have you read these threads? Something in there might help you; http://www.chess.com/forum/search?keyword=flags (Let's assume the OP is the wife of a diplomat)

1) It sounds like the only solutions are to lie about where I am or to hide it or to just put up with being mislabeled. That's really a shame. Does anyone know a way to reach out to chess.com and suggest that they change that?
I don't think it's lying about where you are to choose a different country. The setting is for your country, it doesn't specify whether it means nationality or location. It assumes it means both, but obviously it can only be right about one for you. You could just as easily argue that right now by setting your country to India you're lying about your nationality. Given that it's possible to write a location in your profile, I'd use the country setting to reflect nationality. It's not perfect but it's probably good enough.
If you want to suggest improvements to staff you can email them here, select Suggestions for the category:

I would guess that nothing will come of it, though. They're spending most of their time on V3 right now, they aren't going to take the time to improve something which is already good enough for most people.

It's in your settings right above country. Yours is set to S.D., California (San Diego?)
You can write in whatever you like there, so you could still write in Chennai, India. It would add United States at the end, but anyone with a modicum of intelligence will figure out what you mean.

OP: Why don't you just post your home zip code, photos of your family and other personal information here while your at it...You've exposed everything else about your life.. Jeez...What a clown... Ready for deletion now.
Why don't I post a bunch of stuff about myself including my zip code? Well, you saw that I'm in India, right? There are no zip codes here. So I don't have one. The closest equivalent is called a pin code. It stands for postal index number. It's six digits long and is fairly similar to a zip code. I know you're trying to insult me. But I love telling people here about the U.S. and I love telling people in the U.S. about India. So thank you for giving me the opportunity to do it. I'm afraid you didn't offend me at all.
TheronG, thank you so much for that link. This is a site with a global audience. Worldwide, people actually move around internationally a lot more than they do in the U.S. So I actually think this type of feature might end up being pretty nice for a lot more people than one might think at first. So I will suggest it. Maybe it's something that could be in version 3. :)

A serious question : do they still kill people eating cow meat? or is it a joke ?
Is it still banned in Maharastra to eat cow, or is it a joke ?
Ty concernng flag it would be difficult to choose one which legalize meat cow eating banishment. Why not pork ribs, T bone, .... walkers ?

Buddy it is a single incident which took place and very tragic. They even tried to ban meat and before that porn as well.
Let's see what is the OP's take on this issue. How good are these American intelligence at analysing this situation.
If this turns into a political thread, can always move it to Off-topic.
The murder of that Muslim person over beef issue was really heart wrenching.

this would be a nonsense

Ban meat it is cultural, ban porn with KAMA SUTRA background , it is funny. What about checking sculptures in some Hindu temples dedicated to education of masses ?
In our Op case, why not use international "flag" in diplomacy time work, and back home when retired or fired or in private business, re-use US flag ?

op 18
" I've even had people think that I was in the French Foreign Legion. " !!!!!!
LOL Incredible unbelievible Why not "honourable correspondant" of NSA in charge of antennas in the Embassy ?
You may use "US, Chennai", everybody will understand , it will be a gimmick teasing giving us desire to learn more. First reaction will be "this person is where???, strange" then go further reading curriculum vitae, we'll have more information.

I'm certainly aware of that, being another international sort of person myself. Some of us, if we wanted to give details, might need more than two flags though.
