listening to good suggestions.
I notice chess.com has done the honour of making another video on some of the people who are using their Support features:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQAmxwO2bKc
Did you miss the first ever class of how to run a business and the first ever class of basic human decency?
How on earth do you think it's okay to do this to YOUR OWN CUSTOMERS, the people who pay your wages, who make chess.com what it is.
Did you ever see Walmart make a video about all the weird support things they received, did you? No because it would be terrible for business and they would potentially face criminal proceedings.
The comments section on youtube is made up of a bunch of kids, of course they think this is okay, their own brains aren't fully developed yet. They like the idea of bullying and humiliating other people.
I mean it's just so ridiculous. Making videos for the express purpose of humiliating and laughing at people.
What is wrong with your own lives that you resort to this and think it's funny?
Meanwhile you never listen to actual suggestions at all, because you're too lazy or incompetent to improve your site in any real way.
I told you many years ago that old threads should be locked automatically, that it was the way forward, other communities always do it, people who were involved in conversations back then may not want to see their names up again, some people will have passed away. And yet here we are and it still hasn't been corrected.
Here is my second suggestion:
Have a mode where neither player knows the other's identity or rating, other than that they're in the same ballpark rating group that they're in. Their identity and rating is then revealed after the game (or potentially after a few games is rematches are agreed to).
This prevents people from playing very cautiously and defensively against substantially higher rated players and would also be a fun and interesting mechanic in that you would be trying to guess the opponent's strength by how they play.
It would also remove psychological barriers where some people start getting nervous if they're winning against a very strong player.
