IP Banned

When Cox changed my ip address that had apparently been used by an "abusive member" in the past and so i couldn't get into chess.com anymore. I am posting this from my apartment complex's business center.

I contacted support and they said that my location may have been banned due to a previous abusive member and was told that that ban can not be undone.

Is there a way to change my ip? I use Firefox on Linux Ubuntu 12.04.

I used proxies in the past and the online ones didn't work with live chess and the ones i downloaded were viruses! All of them. All these viruses were part of why i switched to linux

Pretty sure you can contact your isp and ask for a different IP. Most ISPs cycle ip addresses every so often anyway.
