iPhone app - Got stuck in an ad

after a game vs the computer ended, an ad popped up as usual but it went straight to the app store without me touching the screen. minimizing the app and re-opening didn't work; the app store was open within the chess.com app somehow. And there was no button to go back. I had to completely close the app and restart it.

The problem is resolved but something like this shouldn't happen, so I posted to let you know.

This also just happened to me, some war game app took over and planted me in the App Store while I was playing a live 5 minute game. The only way I was able to regain control was to reboot my iphone 5s. (Luckily with time to finish the game) This has happened a few times recently. Next time I will try to get a screen shot.

Ok, played a few games to investigate (oh darn, can't believe i fell for the fool's mate over and over again, now I can say I've studied an opening in detail though).

None of the other ads seem to redirect automatically, which the Game of War one does sometimes (not every time). However, if you click any ad, it opens the app store within the chess.com as mentioned earlier and the "go back" button seems to be missing, instead there's a blank white bar at the top. If you tap in the top-left corner where I imagine a button is indeed intended, but not visible, you do come back to the "Game over" screen and can continue from there without rebooting anything. I recall trying this the first time it happened though; maybe my tap attempts weren't accurate enough.

So it boils down to the button actually being there, but not being visible. (And one of the ads sometimes redirecting automatically after less than 1 second, which is also annoying.)

Edit: Haha, with the screenshot open on the computer I noticed that you can (barely) see "Cancel" in white text (on the lightgray background) in the top-left corner. Seems like an easy fix then; just change the color of the text. ^^

I grabbed the screen shot, this time it was slotomania. If totally necessary I'll find a way to post it here. I can see the VERY light cancel button in the top left, but I'm pretty sure clicking it did nothing... Next time I'll be more aware of it.

All said n' done, is the annoyance of app ads popping into online games a new cost of free?

Well... it happens again: When going on chess.com I get the add "Do you want to become a premium member .... but I can't refuse to become premium member because the respective button is at the very lower end of the screen! Can't get acess to the daily puzzles anymore.

Restarting the browser doesn't help .
