is it really random the assignation of colours?

hello, i would like to make you thinking about this issue, that i think is not complitely fair:

when u challenge someone, to assign the colours there is the option "random". but i think the logic of such an assignement is that none should know which colour he will play with until the start of the match, for a question of fairness of the choice of the "first-move-holder". BUT black and white are YET given with the challenge, so that the challenged can avoid to play if he does not like the colour he play with..

well, i don't think this is impartial for the players. i would classify it as a "logical" rather than technical bug.

er, sorry: for sake of grammar, the title should be :

"is the assignnement of colours really random?"

can someone correct this stupid blunder, please?

what a shame..

ADK

True, but I don't use that feature very often... I usually pick Black.

For the sake of spelling, the title should be "is the assignment of colours really random?"

I agree that the colours should not be assigned until the game has been agreed upon.

I simply assume that I'm black every time, and if I get white it's just a bonus.

This is a good suggestion. But it still wouldn't work. Even if the colors were only revealed at the start of the game, one could still abort the game immediately or resign the game before the 3-5 necessary moves are made to impact ratings. There will always be a loophole :(

Interesting...

I just go in with the mind-set that it doesn't really matter what colour you play with.

I think not revealing the colors untill the game has started would work, because (for most players) there is a higher treshold for aborting a game then for not accepting a challenge.
