It just doesn't make sense - come, let us reason together

No offense intended toward the hard-working staff, but as a philosopher and logician, I can't for the life of me understand why there exists both a support forum and a support ticket system.

The ticket at least gets a response typically from a caring person, but it's more like a customer service dialog rather than any real technical assistance. I've posted both here and in two or three tickets about my inability to post anything in game chat even though it is not disabled.

No answer from here other than open a ticket. No answer from ticket except "have you cleared your cache?" and "I'm so sorry you're having trouble."

Yes, I've cleared my cache. That's why I bought CCleaner Pro. I've also made sure my computer (a gaming desktop) is plugged in. And yes, I have all the latest updates, a screaming fast processor, more RAM than Russia, and nary a virus, trojan, or worm.

Anyway, this forum seems redundant. You should just make it for announcements or something. That way, people who need help aren't descended on by more trolls than there are bats in a cave.

I've paid this site $400 (one for myself, and three for others who've been kind to me.)  I even had to download a new email client (Thunderbird) because Windows Mail thinks you are a malicious site (or so it tells me.)

What do I have to do to get help, buy the site? How much do you want for it?

shameful behaviour .... today they blocked my IP with no reason at all, and "they will answer in 1-2 days"....If I am cheater, suspicious, osama, whatever -- then ban my account (and tell me the reason) not my IP

Same thing here. Typically I can post in game chat at the very start of my 90 30 games, but not after the first move.

Martin_Stahl

Probably 90% of the posts here get answered by other members and it seems that is the primary intent. A lot of the time, someone just needs clarification on something or needs pointed to an appropriate answer or resource.

The forum is also a good gauge to see if multiple people are seeing the same issues and if something is widespread and needs deeper attention.

So, the forum is a good way to limit repetitive and routine questions that would otherwise get routed to the ticketing system.

guys, have you considered the possibility that it is your opponents who have disabled chat, and that is why you cannot chat ?

chesster3145

Yes, @Lagomorph, when your opponent disables chat it shows in the chat interface.

Form the OP:

"I've posted both here and in two or three tickets about my inability to post anything in game chat even though it is not disabled."

Perhaps the higher-ups at chess.com are afraid of your intellectual capabilities Kant. They don't want you poisoning the minds of their patrons, the same grounds upon which the city of Athens ostensibly attempted to silence Socrates.
