It is now almost a year since I made my first post on the subject of live chess.
erik gave his customary facetious but unhelpful reply.
We are advised it is still a "work in progress". We are beset by disconnections, pieces which will not move and other problems.
Can we look forward to some measure of improvement, or not ?
really? facetious? geez... that's not how i intend to come across.
if have have been following the forums at all you'd note that several months ago we admitted defeat with the current live chess technology and have begun anew. things are going amazingly well and we're able to handle 5,000 simulated users with no troubles. we're now adding back in all of the chess logic, and must then build the interface again (more thoughtfully).
anyway, thanks for your kind and positive remarks. comments like yours certainly do motivate me and make me feel excited to build this free online chess community! (ok fine, sometimes i am facetious...)

Indeed he is and he might be advised to take note that offering facetious comment to potential paying customers is not considered in the marketing industry to be sound practice.
If erik wants kudos for giving us a free fun service he may have them from me, by all means. If he wants my money, however, he will have to do much better.
I've got to say Samantha, it doesn't look like you were ever a potential paying customer. It sounds like you are just a cheap person trying to get a free service, and complaining about it every step of the way.
I think that Samantha was just making a harmless comment about this site having bugs on it. Yes it is a beta and yes it is free, and we all appreciate that very much, but it seems like her original post was a harmless comment and she was looking for positive feedback. Everyone jumped down her throat when in fact she said that this website has the potential for being the best chess website on the net. Is it not frustrating to get disconnected in the middle of a game and having your rating suffer?
To whom it may concern, thank you for creating and maintaining this website... I love it.
If the website were more seamless (as I hope it will be in the future), I would be a paying customer also...
if you knew how complicated it is to actually do this, you wouldn't sound so impatient. i'm sorry there are bugs in a BETA version of a FREE chess server. (geesh)
sorry, i didn't see any helpful feedback in your post, so i mistook it for complaining. my mistake.
Erik is one sassy site owner!
Why the live chess still under testing?
It seems the way they were making it didn't work out, so they restarted.

De-Lar is a little confused.
I am not trying to get a free service. I already have one.
He is also given to exaggeration. Two posts in eleven months on one topic can hardly be considered as complaining "every step of the way" .

I like how you said, 'he is also given to exaggeration',it links this post to the one you did a year ago. Making this whole thing seamless, nice writing ;)
I only recently got access to a computer where I could play live chess and have never been disconnected in just over 100 games of blitz. I think I'll go have a wee game now - wish me luck!
Any theory as to why I cannot log in ?
