Thank you for your response... I just read it, even though it was send so long ago. Maybe I missed mentioning this happens in my iPhone, so the article you recommended (great info btw!) does not apply? Any thoughts?
I also got lost by he same way and have seen a red bar blinking on the top of the game. I believe, this is due to poor internet connection. WiFi signals sometimes got so poor that connection get disturbed. And the game got abandonment due to no reply for more than 15 seconds after the opponents turn. When you move to cellular network from the WiFi network this issue get better sometimes. This is just my view point.
I understand the frustration about wanting the points back...however, the statistician in me thinks would you be willing to give up the points you won by the other players losing connection (which makes it a wash)? If not then it would lead to rating inflation...i.e., being able to win points by abandonment but not lose them. That would also open the door to simply disconnecting during a losing game and claiming abandonment. Not saying you'd do that but I do play a few games each day where people just close out I assume thinking they won't lose points?
same problem also for me, playing in a custom tournament after the first move there's a forced adjudication by the system
This is crazy! It is not an internet connection, it is BS! My connection is fine and every app I use works perfectly except for this one. Strangely enough it only happens when have my opponent in a tough situation. Then suddenly I can't move and by the time I can 4-5 ,minutes have been taken off my time or they say I abandoned the game and have lost. This has been going on for about a week now and it is a problem I never had before!

It’s very frustrating to loose points this way, especially when you are winning a game and internet connection is very solid. IT team at chess.com, please solve this as it makes the platform unreliable and loose reputation. We need a solid platform to feel safe to play. First world problems, I know, but this is the service you committed to offer, so why not make sure it’s the best it can be? Thank you for looking into this
I just lost a game by time out. But I was connected and had no connection issue. I had even received a banner that opponent had lost by abandonment, but then my clock continued to decrease in time and I was not able to move. I even grabbed a screen shot of the notification saying I won by abandonment.
I have lost a few games now by "abandonment" when in fact I was waiting for the other player to move. The clock of the other player is still running and all of a sudden I end up losing by abandonment. I have lost over a hundred points because of this. When I realized this I started taking pictures but this is so erratic that it's impossible to predict. When you realize you are in this situation there's nothing you can do but wait and lose by abandonment. Can you help and maybe reinstate the lost points?
