Losses on vacation

My last two losses were due to time-outs while I was on 24h vacation (taken because I had a 16hour migraine). One game I had totally beaten my opponent, and in the other, a lost situation, but I was hoping for a draw.

Question: Why did these matches time-out while I was on vacation?

Question: Is there no recourse?

Thanks for advice.

Yes. A 'No Vacation' tournament ...

so Timeout Protection does not apply.

Okay. Live and learn (the hard way). Thanks for the replies.

Timeout protection applies to Diamond, Platinum & Gold members - *see http://www.chess.com/membership.html?c=supporthome) but NOT to NO VACATION tournament games.
