Do games time out during Chess.com maintenance?

troyski3862
The board size on my iPhone 12 app got bigger and I cant scroll down before or after I move. I uninstalled and reinstalled but hasn’t resolved. The app was working fine for about 10 or so games but something has gone wrong. Any suggestions

There is a bug on iOS. Staff have pinpointed the issue and are working on a fix. Until that is fixed and released, you might try the information on the following.

I would guess if the whole site was down for maintenance, there would be a process to add time to daily games, if it was very long.

You might ask support directly though to be sure.

I was just curious because it was down for about an hour the other day, I've never seen the whole site be down like that before.

Your post is the only one I've seen like that, so it's possible that it wasn't actually down and some part of the path between you and the site was down.

Actually I saw it too. The entire Chess.com was offline.  It told me to play with the Bots until Chess.com was back online again. Others are probably just too lazy to mention it. I was feeling lazy too. But I admit I saw it too so that OP knows she wasn’t drunken or imagined it.

My super excellent memory remembered something else.  After we came back online, a staff named jdcannon opened a testing forum to test if we can see his posts. The test was successful. A mod confirmed the test was successful too.

GBTGBA

After the forum test was successful, jdcannon locked the forum. But later a mod posted to say he can also see the post too. This has confirmed that mods can post in locked forums. Do they need to unlock first to post ? That I don’t know.

What is ? My super excellent memory? Yeah it’s a little scary hahaha 😎But I’m not using it in the more useful places like remembering all the openings. That’s why I’m not GM.

no the mod posting in the locked forum

creepy

GBTGBA

I have to disagree that mods posting in locked forums is creepy. It’s actually good. For example: my super excellent memory remembered the other day one mod locked an offensive forum but he forgot to remove the offensive post. Another mod later came in the locked forum and removed the offensive post.

GBTGBA

Another example of mods posting in locked forums is not creepy is a forum talking about cheating. It was locked but later a knowledgeable cheating detection admin posted a more elaborate explanation why the forum should be locked.

Isn't that what it says when Live is down? I'm on off and on throughout the day, and didn't see anything. Not saying it didn't happen, just that any time things are down, there's usually multiple topics about it.

GBTGBA

Yeah Martin some people didn’t see it. Not everyone was trying to log online. This time it’s different. The whole site was offline because you can’t see the forums offline either. It’s not just live chess.

GBTGBA

Yeah I must say it’s unusual there were not multiple posts about it hahaha. But makes no mistake it happened. My super excellent memory rarely lie to me.
