 yes, count your blessings I'm not a staff member. Rules are rules...either have profanity rules or don't. Obey the rules, whatever they are...profanity condemned, or profanity tolerated. I don't care. As long as you followed the rules if I was a staff member, you'd be ok....simple as that....zero tolerance as it should be.

 If I've angered others over "outing" an individual, then so be it. I will do it again if I find it necessary. Whose gonna stop me...the chess police? They can't even control vulgar and offensive language. Why should I be intimidated if I OUT a vulgar individual. They deserve the exposure. I plan to continue OUTING as I find it necessary.

We should all give the OP a commendation for his ongoing efforts in the war against profanity.

 make me the bad guy...not the member who posted profane language. Frankly, I don't care. It appears that you must continue to criticize me instead of those who break the rules regarding profanity. it seems that hypcrisy  can be applied to you. I give you back your own certificate. It fits your perfectly.

On **** homepage, I noticed, in the notes section, a vulgar response written by ****. Is this approprate and tolerated? Should this be reported? Are there not young children playing on this site? FYI

Hmmm. Doesn't look like a moderater removed the person's name. Maybe you decided we had a point?

This is a family site. There should be no reason at all to be abusive or offensive any where on the site.

We have alot of members here who bring their small children onto the site to learn and play chess and they don't expect to be subjected to vulgar or abusive language.

Just because its seen as acceptable language for some, its not acceptable for everyone.

It was mentioned in this thread about a possible filter on homepages as the site doesn't have this. This has been noted and passed to those higher in management than myself.

brewsky,  I'm Site Experience Manager for Chess.com.(site manager)

In response to your posts on this thread.

Your original post asks;

"Is this appropriate and tolerated"

Simple answer is NO. Its not appropriate or tolerated.

You asked;

"Should this be reported"

Simple answer is YES, every time!

Regarding your other comments on this thread, no-one should be using the forums to 'name and shame' anyone.
There are correct channels provided to do this.

Bottom of the page - click on Help & Support. When that page opens, click on the left side of the page where it says 'Contact Us'.  You can then report people for abuse and that report goes straight to staff.

I did check support tickets before replying in here, and I can't locate any you may have submitted.
If you did send one in, could you kindly re-submit it for me :)

While it is good you want to help keep Chess.com a safe friendly environment for all chess players, using the forums as a means of this is not the acceptable approach.
All this does is anger other members who are then being forced to read the profanity (simply by clicking your thread to see what you posted) when the only people that should be alerted to it should be staff so they can handle this in a quick swift manner (damage control) without having many others offended by it as well when its posted in the forums.

If it was a case of  "well you don't have to read what I posted" or " you don't have to view my threads" no threads on the forums would get read.

If you do wish action to be taken on someone posting abuse, please use the correct channels and not repost other peoples profanities in the forums because by doing so, this can make you as guilty as them.
You're the one reposting their abuse :(

If you would like to discuss this with me directly, please feel free to email me.
