Thanks for you help. I filled in the 30-day money back message. I am just glad I had enough money in my bank account. I wasn't expecting them to take any money out without my permission. When I went into the support, it suggested that you use the cancel option if you don't want to pay for the annual membership. Personally I think this is unacceptable. Any membership payment should be authorised. An automated request for renewal surely should not be a problem for an internet site.
I wonder if chess.com knows that this kind of negative option billing is actually illegal here in Canada, and from a practical security standpoint I'd certainly prefer that my credit card information not be stored by chess.com or any affiliate.
is this free membership still a case. when i logged in earlier today i was offered 10 free membership days but when i clicked on it it transfered me to paid section. How does it work? I want to try it out first before buying it coz i dont really know what option should i follow.
My free trial did indeed pass the tenth day. But it looks like they expect you to cancel before the eleventh day. I didn't and got charged. To be honest, I wasn't counting the days. I didn't realise I was charged until the 12th day when I printed off a mini-statement at a ATM. Looking at the rules afterwards, I suggest that when you accept and receive "the free trial", you remove your bank details before the 10 days elapse.
is it worth buying membership anyway? i wanted to try it out first and given oportunity i d do it. but there s charging bit in it ;-) bit confused. is it worth it? and if it is wich option should i go for? i use my iphhone alot and pc only over the weekends

There is a 30-day money back option which I have completed and I expect it to be refunded. The question is whether I will recieve it in full when the exchange rate is calculated. You never know...i might make money on it...lol...

I wish it was illegal in the U.S.
chess.com lists PayPal as an option, but then won't allow the payment to be made from PayPal without a credit card (as opposed to a direct payment from a bank account like Amazon and other businesses allow through PayPal), which defeats the entire purpose. One way or another, chess.com wants to put you into a default automatic re-billing situation . I paid my last 2 annual fees by mailed check just to avoid that.

hey listen up guys, i also didnt understand it at the begining, geting a membership at chess.com is cheap and worth it. when ever they make a mistake you can contact them and they replie personaly with in 24 howers, dealing with the mistake. i am very happy with my chess.com membership.
Apparently I have been refunded and my membership reset. I will have to check to see how much I get back with the exchange rate. I may purchase membership at later date, but currently it is not an option. But of course if I was good enough to offer coaching, membership cost wouldn't be an issue. lol.
Hi. I took advantage of the free membership offer a few days ago. Yesterday. £63.48 was taken from my bank account. I did not authorise this payment. I was not asked if I wanted to pay for this membership. I want my money back. Please reply.
