minus points for correct answer... pic

When attempting to solve a problem which is lower rated than yourself, you'll be expected to solve it within a certain time if you want to improve your rating. The larger the gap, the quicker you'll have to solve it in order to get a higher rating as a result. (and, problems rated higher than yourself give extra points.)

no. this is an obvious bug. look at the small difference in the rating. doesnt make sense.
it should be +3 or something

Not a bug. I've got -5 for solving a 2199 problem too slowly (I was 2195.)
1337 and 1272 is not a small difference. Plus you took 2.5x the average time to solve the problem, so rating loss is a given.

if this is true then the system is extremely inconsistant. i've done the same thing with opposite outcomes.
plus youre just wrong. after a said amount of time it stays at 20%.
i'm sure it works differently if your rated 2000.
bottom line is i got the identical amount of point lose if i got it wrong. bug.

Yeah, I know that. My -5 was for a 27%; I could've easily gone down to 20% and lost even more, probably up to -12 or something for a puzzle almost exactly my rating (which I have done several times before.)
It does NOT work differently for different ratings, there is a formula only dependent on the time taken to solve, and the difference between your rating and the problem's. (Don't ask me for the formula, ask whoever programmed it.)
And it is not a bug, just live with the fact that this tactic trainer penalises you for solving too slowly. If you don't want that, go to chesstempo or something, don't call it a bug when it's not.

tedthepirate,
First, the puzzle was rated around 100 points lower than you. If you don't solve it in a good amount of time you will, without a doubt lose rating points, even if you get the answer correct.
Second, the average time to finish the puzzle is 0:40, you solved it in 1:40, which is 3 times as long.
With those two factors combined, it will most certainly cause you to lose the amount of points that you did.

As an addition to my previous comment, here is something that might help :)
