my opponent castled after I checked them

My last opponent castled after I checked them. I still won the game but I looked through the game afterwards and I definitely checked them early on and mid game they castled WTF?

Chess players can castle after being put into check. Chess players may castle as long as:

  • it must be that king's very first move
  • it must be that rook's very first move
  • there cannot be any pieces between the king and rook to move
  • the king may not be in check or pass through check

Yes, but that's not what happened in that game. The guy checked, and the opponent castled 10 moves later. Nothing wrong with that, obviously.
