Perhaps he's on vacation, or else it could be that his time has only just run out not long ago and the computer needs time to process that he has lost on time.

You can wait out the 90 expiry period or go here http://www.chess.com/home/echess_settings.html and check Auto-Win on Time.
Ratings changes occur for games of at least 7 plies (3 and a half moves).
