My rating goes from 1200 to 1364 with my first ever game (against a 1201 player)

My account is only a couple of days old.  My first completed game was because the opponent resigned after he made a few painful blunders.

At the time I was 1200 & he was 1201.  For the win my rating jumped to 1364.  His loss earned him a meager 7 points taking his rating to 1208.

I feel uncomfortable with such a generous reward.  Surely there has been a glitch yes?  And what should i do?

It's not a glitch. When first starting out, your rating will make big leaps due to the formula not knowing what your strength is. As you play more games, your rating stabilizes and you gain and lose an average of 8 points depending on what rating your opponent is.

Oh.  And I had dreams of soon-to-be GM_Mr_Potato_Head.  Such is life.

BTW, if you play with higher rated opponent and WIN then you rating can sky rocket (if i am not wrong)
