New Tactics (puzzles): viewing/redoing missed puzzles?

Sort:
JoeSlime

Hi guys, love the new look and layout of the tactics trainer - however l am curious how l can go back and redo/practice the tactics puzzles l've missed. In the past they showed up as red x's that l could click on and view/re-do. I would do this daily for all missed tactics that were still showing up in the list of my last 20 or so tactics... but now it appears that functionality/feature is gone?

If anyone could tell me how l could go back and view the tactics l've missed and re-do them that would be great.

You have to go to your stats (it still shows all the puzzles you failed/pass there) and you find the ones you failed in red. I like to do the same thing too, but I seems like the quick and easy way is gone.

Unrated mode has an option to do just the missed tactics; now under Learning and changing the Theme to Puzzles I Have Failed

Hi. Is there anywhere I can read about the new changes in the Tactics system at chess.com?

How can you love the new look and layout if you have questions and small nagging inconveniences that didn't exist before, since the old design was more user-friendly and intuitive? The way it is set up and designed (including the almost instantaneous response move from the computer, among all other things) is very irritating. Guys of Chess.com, if ain't broke, don't fix it

I like the new format. It is good not having to go over to "settings" go change things. Setting up is easier now. Also, separating the "rated' and "learning" features meant, for us, that we have a larger tactics quota to do per day.  Non-premium members could do 5. Now they can do 5 rated and 5 on learning. Gold members can now do 50 in total instead of the previous 25... I guess the only ones that did not get a better stake in this were the diamond members...

In other words, the new format added more value to the dollar spent on the site.

Very well put, thank you for pointing out that l (a freemium member) can now do 5 rated, and 5 unrated per day instead of the normal 5.

Cool tip, thanks friend!

k-scope

for me the new puzzles feature suffers from the same problem as previous versions,

puzzle correct +3, puzzle wrong -16.

in my latest session sub 1200 puzzle correct +5, 1685 puzzle correct +4??????, seems you are not rewarded for getting tougher puzzles right.

JoeSlime

k-scope AFAIK the scoring platform has not been changed at all. If you're only earning ~3 points for a solved puzzle, this simply means you are taking too long to recognize the pattern/solution. The faster you solve, the more points u earn.

As you get better and faster at pattern recognition you'll easily earn 15+ points per puzzle.

have to disagree with this comment, I get 100% speed bonus on a lot of puzzles but still only get 3-4 pts. (dont know what AFAIK means)

Hiya again k-scope,

AFAIK = As Far As I Know

I just looked at your stats (here: https://www.chess.com/stats/puzzles/k-scope), and for the puzzles you're only getting ~4 or so points for you are not getting 100% target speed. Here's an example from your own stats page: https://prnt.sc/n5876i

If you wanna complain about the scoring system used here, l get it. I'm indifferent and personally don't have a problem with it. Maybe you should check out chesstempo? Or better yet, not get hung up on what is just an imaginary internet rating to begin with and focus on the real reason you're doing tactics puzzles to begin with; which is to improve your chess.
